Cactus Fashion

American & Efird are thread genies and manufacturers.

Their website is mainly technical, part product description, and lots more.  However, they do have some very useful information for home sewers.  Check out this page, which I’m sure will have some helpful info for you on troubleshooting stitches, machine, etc.

American & Efrid

Well, I was reminiscing about Kentucky tonight and decided to look at the University of Kentucky’s College of Textiles website. As it turns out, there’s a lot of info here.

For those of you who would like some concise, printable sewing instructions, here’s a link with lots of titles for various PDFs for download (FREE!); the illustrations are good and seem quite clear.

Let me know what you think!

Kentucky_Hillbillys

P.S. Once a year in Kentucky, they hold a “Hillbilly Festival” in a town named “Thousand Ticks”; anyone wanna go? 🙂

Found this on PatternReview; check it out.  This may be helpful for those of you who need a basic tutorial on sewing a buttonhole by machine.  The photos are great.

I meant to bring this to class today, but went out of the house without it this AM!

I would suggest to anyone who is interested in sewing to purchase this book. I’ve had an older version of this for years and purchased her newer one during the spring semester. I know that Kristin B. snagged it once she saw mine. I think you’ll get a lot out of this book as it is “The Bible” of fabric reference for sewers:
